The Nationals, in conjunction with the Baltimore Orioles, own the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, or “MASN,” which is the regional sports network that broadcasts Orioles and Nationals games during the regular season to in-market fans, as well as some ACC Football. To live stream the Nationals on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, iPhone, and other popular devices, sign up for DIRECTV STREAM’s “Choice” package.

Important channels

As a team that owns their own channel, it probably comes as no surprise for Nationals fans to learn that if you want to watch D.C’s MLB team without cable, you need a live TV streaming service that has reached a carriage agreement with MASN. At present, there is only one: DirecTV Stream.

For local fans

One of the cool things about MASN is its large reach. MASN is available in all of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. MASN also serves major portions of North Carolina and Pennsylvania and parts of West Virginia. This means that much of the Mid-Atlantic region is “in-market” for Nationals baseball and can stream games on DirecTV Stream “Choice.”

At present, DirecTV Stream’s “Choice” package is the only game in town for Nationals games. Although the price is quite high, the good news with DirecTV Stream “Choice” is the platform is a good solution for watching NFL games as well.

Not only can you watch MASN on DirecTV Stream, you can stream the Washington Commanders on FOX 5, WTTG.

Note: DirecTV Stream does not carry NBC Sports Washington for Wizards basketball and Capitols hockey.

Outside the Mid-Atlantic

If you don’t live inside the MASN territory, MLB.TV will be your only choice if you want to follow the team all summer.

MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the premium out-of-market option for MLB fans. With MLB.TV fans can circumvent the regional broadcast rules and watch any game they like, including Nationals games. If you want to follow just one team all summer, the rate drops to a one time annual fee of $109.99.

During the MLB season, ESPN+ plays one out-of-market MLB game every day. While this isn’t a good way to follow your favorite team, it is a great option for baseball fans who want to “survey the league” and watch a diverse array of games.

National TV

When the Nationals are on a national broadcast, cord cutting MLB fans will want to make sure they can stream ESPN, FS1, TBS, and MLB Network. In addition, Apple and Peacock have jumped into the baseball world by buying the rights to exclusive games to be streamed only on their platforms, for a total of about 36 games each year. When the Nationals are featured in a national game, MASN will often be blacked out.

When the Nationals are on a “big stage game” like Sunday Night Baseball, MASN will be blacked out. Here is how to watch nationally televised Nationals games, both regular season and playoffs.
