Although several live TV streaming services carry Chargers games, our top pick for in-market fans is DIRECTV STREAM “Choice.”

Not only can NFL fans in Los Angeles watch the Chargers on KCBS-TV CBS 2 LA with DIRECTV STREAM, the platform also carries ESPN, FOX, NBC, and offers an upgrade for Bally Sports SoCal and West, as well as Spectrum SportsNet LA, for watching Clippers, Angels, Dodgers, Kings, and Lakers games in-market. If watching college football is a higher priority than NBA, go with Fubo “Sports Lite” for full coverage of the Trojans and Bruins.

The most important channels for Chargers fans

Because CBS has the TV rights to broadcast most regular season AFC action, as well as Super Bowl LVIII, the most important channels for Chargers fans will be the local CBS affiliates in Southern California. Los Angeles and San Diego gave separate CBS affiliates:

  • Los Angeles – KCBS-TV 2
  • San Diego – KFMB-TV 8

Other important channels will be: ESPN, FOX, and NBC.

Note: Sling TV carries ABC, FOX and NBC in the Los Angeles market.

How to watch the Chargers from SoCal

Although they will appear on national broadcasts like Monday Night Football from time to time, and in some games with widespread regional coverage, the Chargers are predominately a team that is on regionally in Southern California, which means that the in-market vs. out-of-market viewing distinctions apply more strictly for Chargers fans. The options that follow are designed to maximize Chargers coverage for in-market SoCal fans.

Watch the Los Angeles Chargers on Paramount Plus

Paramount+, with its NFL on CBS lineup, is an excellent option for Chargers fans, and all in-market AFC fans. Paramount+ allows Chargers fans to stream games on both SoCal CBS affiliates:

  • Los Angeles – KCBS-TV 2 and San Diego – KFMB-TV 8

Note that Paramount+ does not carry ESPN, NBC, or FOX, so coverage will not be complete.

Watch the Los Angeles Chargers on DIRECTV STREAM

DirecTV Stream is also a good option for Chargers fans as the platform carries CBS, FOX, NBC, and ESPN.

As an added bonus, DirecTV Stream is the only live TV streaming provider that carries Spectrum Sportsnet LA and Bally Sports San Diego. This will give SoCal sports fans Lakers, Kings, and Dodgers coverage in addition to the Chargers.

For San Diego fans, Bally Sports San Diego gets you access to the Padres.

Chargers player to watch – #97

#97 Joey Bosa, the Chargers star defensive end, and former Ohio State Buckeye, is the player to watch this season. When healthy, Bosa is one of the most dominant edge rushers in the game. Bosa played in only 5 games last season, and was productive when on the field. However, some NFL “experts” are questioning whether Bosa is past his prime. Joey Bosa is a player, like Tyron Smith for the Cowboys, that I will watch for when on the field, but also take not of when off the field as well. Let’s hope #97 can play a full season for the Chargers this season.

How to watch the LA Chargers out-of-market

For Chargers fans outside of SoCal, NFL Sunday Ticket, the NFL’s premium out-of-market package, is the best option. At $449 without a YouTube TV subscription, Sunday Ticket is pricey for the 2023-24 season.

Outside of national TV games, NFL Sunday Ticket is the only way to watch the Chargers out-of-market this season.

Watching the LA Chargers FAQ

Can I watch the LA Chargers in San Diego? What channel airs the games?

Yes, you can watch the LA Chargers in San Diego. Still known by many as a San Diego based franchise, the Chargers announced a move to Los Angeles in 2017, a decision many in San Diego are still not recovered from. It could be argued that, especially in light of the Rams recent Super Bowl win, the Chargers play second fiddle in LA. Regardless of who your favorite Southern California football team is, many fans are still interested in the Chargers, and the team does have some exciting young talent on its roster. Yes, you can watch the Chargers from San Diego. In San Diego, most Chargers games will air on KFMB-TV CBS 8.

Which regions are in-market for LA Chargers game?

With the exception of nationally televised games, like Monday Night Football and Playoff games, Chargers games are usually only broadcast to Southern California. This makes the in-market vs. out-of-market distinctions for regional NFL coverage more important for Chargers fans to understand. For TV purposes, the Chargers are very much a SoCal team.
