Watch the Yankees on the YES Network with DIRECTV STREAM “Choice” or the YES app. Out-of-market Yankee fans can watch the team with an MLB.TV subscription.
Table of Contents
For Bronx Bomber fans in the NY area, DIRECTV STREAM’s “Choice” package and the YES Network app are the only live TV streaming service that carry the YES Network.
Unlike the YES Network app, DIRECTV STREAM carries all the channels fans need to follow the Yankees through the playoffs, as well as WNYW-TV FOX 5 NYC for watching the Giants.

Important channels
The Yes Network carries most regular season Yankees action as well as the WNBA’s New York Liberty, the Brooklyn Nets, and New York City FC soccer.
I’ve also added ESPN, FOX, FS1, and TBS, which along with Apple TV+ and Peacock, are the channels and services that carry nationally televised MLB games that reach every market. Since the Yankees are a popular team with a national brand, Yankees fans will get to see the team on national TV often.

For local Yankees fans
Currently, the only way to stream the YES Network, as well as the channels that carry nationally televised Yankee games, is through DIRECTV STREAM’s “Choice” package.
DIRECTV STREAM “Choice” also carries MSG for Knicks coverage, as well as WNYW-TV FOX 5 NYC for watching the Giants and WCBS-TV CBS 2 for watching Jets games.
YES Network has launched its own direct-to-consumer streaming service, which allows in-market Yankee fans to watch most regular season games, as well as the YES Network’s other programming live without cable.
In addition to MLB baseball, the YES Network carries WNBA, NBA, and MLS games in-market. The YES Network is so well subscribed because it is the exclusive local home of popular pro sports teams like:
- New York Yankees,
- WNBA’s New York Liberty,
- Brooklyn Nets,
- and New York City FC soccer team schedule.
YES Network also carries a select lineup of ACC sporting events as part of the ACC on RSNs series. This means that a handful of Syracuse football and basketball games will air on YES each season.
Out-of-market
Are you a diehard Yankees fan who has moved away from home, but who still wants to follow the team? This out-of-market Yankees viewing guide is for you.
For MLB fans who live out-of-market from their favorite team, MLB.TV allows subscribers to circumvent the regional regular season viewing rules, and tune into whichever team they wish, including the Yankees.
During the MLB regular season, ESPN+ carries one out-of-market game per day, which gives Yankees fans the chance to see the Pinstripes intermittently. While you can’t follow along with the Yankees all season, an ESPN+ subscription saves sports fans almost $1,000 per year over DIRECTV STREAM.
As an added bonus, out-of-market Yankee fans can add MLB.TV to an ESPN+ subscription.
ESPN+ subscriptions get you access to UFC Fight Nights and out-of-market NHL hockey.
National TV games
As one of the most iconic brands in all of sports, the major media players who own exclusive rights to games like Friday Night Baseball will want to feature the Yankees often. When the Yankees appear on Sunday Night, Tuesday Night, Friday Night, or Sunday Morning Baseball, or when they are in the playoffs or World Series, here is how to watch.
Unfortunately, YouTube TV doesn’t carry the YES Network, so MLB fans in NYC can’t watch the Yankees every night on YouTube TV.
When the Yankees are in the MLB playoffs, YouTube TV will carry the games that air on ESPN, TBS, FS1, and FOX.
During the regular season, in-market Yankee fans can watch on YouTube TV when the team appears on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, or TBS’s Tuesday Night Baseball.
Yankee fans can watch the team in national games and the playoffs and World Series on Hulu, but not on YES Network.
Sling Orange is a cost effective way to watch nationally televised MLB games on ESPN and TBS. You have to add the more expensive Blue package to get FS1 and FOX.
