Paramount+ is a good budget option for in-market Texans fans to watch the games that air on KHOU CBS 11 Houston. If you are willing to limit viewing to your mobile device, NFL+ offers complete Texans coverage for local fans for just $30 per season.
Out-of-market, Texans fans can live stream the entire Texans season on YouTube TV by adding NFL Sunday Ticket.

Top picks
Many NFL regular season games, especially the early kickoffs, are broadcast regionally based on zip code. Texans fans in the Houston TV market will get access to the Texans regular season games on CBS and, occasionally, FOX during the regular season. Texans fans outside Houston might not. When the Texans appear on national TV, for example Monday Night Football, all markets will be able to watch the Texans. If you live outside of Houston and want to watch the regular season, subscribing to NFL Sunday Ticket is the best option.
The options below are the best choice if you’re locally in the 713, or somewhere nearby.
Fubo offers full coverage of the Texans season for local fans (including Thursday Night Football).
Fubo TV is an easy choice for Texans fans who want to cut the cord and still get local NFL action.
Not only does Fubo carry the requisite channels for watching the NFL, checking boxes for KHOU-TV CBS 11 Houston, ESPN, FOX, NBC, and NFL Network, they also carry the Houston RSN, AT&T Sportsnet Southwest, which gives fans in the 713 access to Rockets (NBA) and Astros (MLB) games as well.
As an added bonus, Fubo carries the channels college football fans need to watch UT football and Aggies football, and carries every Houston football game in their first season in the Big 12, except the ESPN+ games.
Pros
- Full local coverage from the 713 area code
- Watch Rockets and Astros in-market
- Excellent college football coverage
- 4K option available
Cons
- Lacks TBS and TNT
- Only 1,000 hours of DVR
Paramount+ only carries Texans games that air on CBS (which is mostly regional coverage).
As long as Paramount+, the streaming platform launched by CBS / Viacom, features the NFL on CBS I will keep recommending this service, especially for in-market AFC fans. I personally use the app and like the simplicity of it. That, and the value is undeniable.
Although a Paramount+ subscription won’t offer full NFL coverage, including for the Texans, the NFL TV contract gives CBS affiliates the rights to most AFC games, and as such, for a great price, fans can save money and get access to a lot of NFL action. If you want to save over $700 a year over most competitors, and simply head to the bar when you can’t get the game on Paramount+, then this app is a great bargain.
Pros
- Watch Texans games on CBS
- AFC playoff coverage
- Super Bowl LVIII
Cons
- Major gaps in coverage
Hulu + Live TV offers full coverage of both the Texans and Houston football.
Hulu + Live TV is another excellent option for Texans fans who want to ditch the cable box. The platform carries all of the most important NFL channels as well as NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL Red Zone.
Houston has been home to several UFC events and, as an added bonus for fight fans, Hulu’s bundle with ESPN+ allows access to all the UFC’s events, both Fight Nights and PPV. The PPV events are billed separately.
Football and MMA are my two favorite sports, which is a big part of why I am a current Hulu + Live TV subscriber. Rather than having to toggle between the ESPN app and the Hulu app, I can order UFC PPV direct from Hulu, which is a major time saver on Saturday nights. Similarly, football fans in Houston who want to watch the Cougars and Texans from the same app should go with Hulu, where the ESPN+ Houston games will be readily available.
Pros
- Full local Texans coverage
- ESPN+ bundle gets UFC and out-of-market NHL
Cons
- Lacks Astros and Rockets games in-market
- No 4K option
YouTube TV offers full coverage of the Texans’ season for local fans, plus the ability to watch the Texans out-of-market by adding NFL Sunday Ticket for $349.
I’ve written several times on this site about how impressive YouTube TV is as a platform for watching sports, and NFL in particular. The service carries the most important channels for watching NFL action, has a 4K package, and even a mobile feature for fantasy football fans.
The downside is you need a Google account to start using YouTube TV, which will slow down the signup time for non-Google users.
Pros
- Full local Texans coverage
- Excellent 4K upgrade
- Innovative features for watching football
Cons
- Google account required to signup
- Lacks Astros and Rockets in-market
NFL+ offers full coverage of the Texan’s season for local fans on mobile and tablet only.
If you are a Texans fan who prefers to watch on mobile, and you live in the 713, signing up for NFL+ is a no-brainer. You can watch every game of the season all the way through the Super Bowl, and save $800 over Fubo and YouTube TV.
Pros
- Full local coverage
- Excellent value for money
- Live audio of NFL games
Cons
- Only available on mobile and tablet
- Can’t watch on a smart TV or big screen
Texans player to watch this season
The early buzz on former Ohio State star QB, and the Texan’s first-round draft pick, CJ Stroud, is that he is way ahead of schedule in terms of development. As someone who watched every game he played at Ohio State, I will have my eye on CJ to see if he cracks the Texan’s starting lineup this season as a rookie. Although he finished his career at OSU 0-2 against Michigan, CJ has the tools to lead the Texans to a Super Bowl.
Out-of-market
If you’re a diehard Texans fan living outside of the 713 and want to watch more than just nationally televised games, you still have options.
YouTube TV will hold the rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket package, the NFL’s out-of-market solution.
Note: Sunday Ticket is an additional $349 fee over the base YouTube TV subscription price.
FAQ
No, ESPN+ doesn’t air NFL games so you can’t watch the Texans on ESPN+.
Not every game, no. Most Texans games will air on CBS or FOX. However, when the Texans appear on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, you can watch the Texans on the Peacock app.
Yes, but it requires buying and installing an air antenna for most games. Sling TV doesn’t carry CBS. In order to get CBS broadcasts on Sling TV you will have to signup for Sling and then buy an air antenna. When the Texans are on Monday Night Football, you can watch the game on ESPN on Sling Orange with no air antenna.
If you are in-market for the game, or if the Texans are on national TV, you can watch the game for free by signing up for a live TV streaming service in a free trial. Fubo and YouTube TV have the longest free trials at 7 and 14 days respectively.
