The Los Angeles Kings have done an excellent job rebuilding their roster, especially at the forward position, and some NHL season previews expect the team to contend for the Pacific Division crown. With a palpable buzz in the air, hockey fans in LA will want to tune in to Kings games this season, and there are several good option for live streaming the Kings on most major streaming devices, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV, to name just a few.

Two live TV streaming services, Bally Sports Plus and DIRECTV STREAM “Choice,” air Kings games for local fans on Bally Sports West. Because DIRECTV STREAM “Choice” combines Bally Sports West broadcasts with nationally televised NHL games, NFL matchups, college football, movies, and news, the platform is our top pick for watching the Kings, as well as LA sports more broadly. Out-of-market Kings fans can watch the team on ESPN+.

Important channels

For in-market Kings fans in SoCal, the most important channel for watching the team is Bally Sports West. Note that FOX Sports West is now Bally Sports West after 21st Century FOX was forced to sell its portfolio of regional sports networks to Sinclair Broadcasting as part of Disney’s acquisition of many of the 21st Century FOX assets.

When the Kings are on national TV, or in a streaming exclusive game, the broadcasts will be on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, or TNT.

In order to watch the Kings on DIRECTV STREAM, an upgrade to the “Choice” plan is required.

In addition to Kings games, upgrading to DIRECTV STREAM “Choice” allows sports fans in LA to watch the Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Ducks, Rams, and Chargers, as well as most USC and UCLA football games.

Bally Sports Plus allows Kings fans in LA to watch the team on Bally Sports West only.

Bally Sports Plus doesn’t offer ABC, ESPN, TNT, or any other programming other than Bally Sports content. The app is a decent regular season solution as it covers most Kings games, but the major drawback is the service lacks the biggest and most important games that air nationally.

You can’t watch the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Chargers, USC Trojans, or UCLA football on Bally Sports Plus.

If you don’t live in SoCal but want to watch the LA Kings season out-of-market, ESPN+ is the best option.

ESPN+ features 1,000 out-of-market NHL games, as well as 75 streaming exclusive games throughout the season, and allows fans to choose the home or away commentary.

The major drawback with ESPN+ out-of-market broadcasts are the blackouts when NHL Network has a game, and the lack of the national channels you need to live stream major NHL games and Stanley Cup Playoff games.

FAQ

Can I watch the LA Kings on FOX Sports West?

No, you can’t watch the Kings on FOX Sports West because FOX Sports West is now called Bally Sports West. FOX Sports West is now Bally Sports West after 21st Century FOX was forced to sell its portfolio of regional sports networks to Sinclair Broadcasting as part of Disney’s acquisition of many of the 21st Century FOX assets. Unfortunately, many streaming sites still refer to Kings games as airing on FOX Sports West when they do not.

Can I watch the LA Kings on Hulu?

Hulu + Live TV doesn’t carry Bally Sports West, so if you’re trying to watch a regular season Kings game from SoCal, Hulu isn’t the platform to sign up for. However, Hulu + Live TV does offer an ESPN+ bundle that gets out-of-market Kings fans the channels they need to watch every LA Kings game, expect for the games that air on NHL Network. The bottom line is that Hulu + Live TV is only a good solution for watching nationally televised, and out-of-market, Kings games.

Can I watch the LA Kings on YouTube TV?

Unless it’s playoff time, or the Kings are featured in a nationally televised game, YouTube TV isn’t a good option for Kings fans. The platform doesn’t carry ESPN+ or Bally Sports West, so the majority of Kings games during the regular season don’t stream on YouTube TV.
