How to Watch FOX College Football Games in 4K

Written by Derek Fleming

Last updated on

With all the money pouring into NCAAF, there is a trend towards more 4K live streams of the biggest games, and FOX is leading the way with its 4K college football lineup. Here is how to watch college football on FOX in 4K this season.

Table of Contents
  1. Option #1: FOX Sports app via TV Everywhere
  2. Option #2: fuboTV “Elite”
  3. Option #3: YouTube TV + 4K Plus

But while sporting events in 4K are becoming more common, don’t get too excited, because you can’t watch every FOX college football game in 4K just yet. FOX 4K isn’t available via laptop or on mobile, and not every streaming device is supported on the FOX Sports app.

If you want to watch Big Noon Kickoff, as well as other select college football broadcasts, in 4K on FOX, you have three options.

3 FOX College Football 4K Options:

  1. FOX Sports app (login via TV Everywhere)
  2. fuboTV “Elite” (Signup for a 7 day free trial)
  3. YouTube TV + 4K Plus add-on (Signup for a free trial)

Option #1: FOX Sports app via TV Everywhere

If you’re reading this, there is a good chance you already have access to FOX’s 4K college football lineup with your existing cable or live TV streaming service.

Assuming your device supports 4K programming on the FOX Sports app, you can live stream select FOX college football broadcasts in 4K by signing in to the FOX Sports app with your login information from live TV streaming services like YouTube TV, Sling TV, fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, and DIRECTV STREAM, as well as select cable providers.

Time needed: 15 minutes

How to start watching FOX college football broadcasts in 4K with TV Everywhere

  1. Check to see if your device is supported

FOX Sports maintains a list of supported smart TVs which are eligible for 4K streaming, here.

  2. Find the FOX Sports app on your smart TV

For example, on Roku, look for “streaming channels” on the home screen and find your live TV streaming service. Add the app just as you did when you signed up for your current streaming provider.

  3. Have your live TV streaming login credentials ready

Have the login details from your live TV streaming provider ready.

  4. Follow the prompts

Use your live TV streaming login credentials to login to the FOX Sports app from your smart TV. You are now eligible for 4K streaming for select games all season. The process here is very similar to using the Watch ESPN app to stream sports content.

Option #2: fuboTV “Elite”

Having just added NBC Sports Chicago programming in 4K, fuboTV offers a growing lineup of 4K options for sports fans, including for college football. In order to access 4K live streams on fuboTV, an upgrade to the “Elite” plan is required.

fuboTV maintains an up to date list of streaming devices that support 4K, here.

Option #3: YouTube TV + 4K Plus

YouTube TV has a 4K package, called 4K Plus, which I have used, and it’s excellent.

This is the current master list of devices that can stream 4K Plus:

  • LG 4K smart TVs (2016 models or newer)
  • Samsung 4K smart TVs (2016 models or newer)
  • Hisense 4K smart TVs (2016 models or newer)
  • Android 4K smart TVs
  • Apple TV 4K (2021 model)
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
  • Roku devices with 4K
  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • PS4 Pro
  • Nvidia Shield
