The Georgia Bulldogs, as the defending national champions, left no doubt about where they sit in the college football hierarchy after blowing out LSU in the SEC Championship game earlier this month. The “Dawgs” sit on the throne until someone knocks them off, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, led by star quarterback CJ Stroud, hope to be the team that finally does it. In a battle of college football blue bloods, Georgia and Ohio State will battle for the right to advance to the national championship game, when they square off from the Peach Bowl on 12/31/22 live on ESPN.

Peach Bowl Storylines
All the talk in Athens has been about a new college football dynasty to match, and perhaps surpass, Alabama. If UGA wins the Peach Bowl, they will be one game away from legend status. However, the last time a college football national champion repeated was in 2011-12, when Alabama beat Notre Dame in the old BCS championship game.
By contrast, Ohio State thrives in the underdog role. In fact, the last time OSU won the national championship, the team was a heavy underdog against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Ohio State won that game 42-35 on the way to winning the first ever college football playoff. The elephant in the room for the Buckeyes is their sole blemish of the season, a blowout loss to a less talented Michigan team, their bitter rivals. This year’s college football playoff gives Ohio State a chance for immediate redemption should the Wolverines get past the Horned Frogs, as most expect they will. Despite a 45-5 record as Ohio State’s coach, some vocal Buckeye fans were calling for his ouster after a second consecutive loss to UM. The Peach Bowl will be a legacy setting game for Ohio State’s young coach.
