How to Watch Every PGA Tour Event Live Online in 2023

Written by Wendy Jacobson

Golf fans can watch every PGA Tour event live without cable. This week’s event, The Charles Schwab Challenge from the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, features an $8,700,000 purse. Watch all four rounds on CBS and the Golf Channel with a free trial on fuboTV.

The PGA Tour brings together the top golfers in the world for 37 tournaments that take place between January and August each year, ending with the Tour Championship on August 27. Whether you are an avid golf enthusiast or someone who’s mildly curious about the sport, you have several options to watch the intrigue unfold, even if you don’t have cable.

Live golf programming is big business. In 2020, the PGA Tour inked a lucrative new TV deal with CBS, ESPN, and NBC that runs through 2030. The contract, which is reported to be worth $700 million annually, cements CBS, ESPN, and NBC as the major players for watching golf for the foreseeable future.

Watching the weekends

While diehard golf fans enjoy tuning in to the early rounds of PGA events on Thursday and Fridays, most of us are at work, and can only sneak a peek at lunch. To watch the closing rounds on the weekends, the major players are NBC and CBS. You can to live-stream the closing rounds of PGA events by making sure you have access to a live TV streaming service that carries both your local NBC and CBS affiliate. In the easy to use table below, we list the live TV streaming services that carry both NBC and CBS in the base package, plus the Golf channel, which airs early round action.

Can I watch the PGA Tour on fuboTV?

Yes, it is easy to live-stream PGA events with a fuboTV account. fuboTV carries all the channels you need to watch PGA golf online every week, including the Golf Channel, CBS, ESPN, and NBC, in the base package. As an added bonus, fuboTV has recently added the Bally Sports regional sports networks for watching in-market NBA, MLB, and NHL games as well.

Can I watch the PGA Tour on Hulu + Live TV?

Hulu + Live TV carries all the channels you need to watch the PGA Tour, including Golf Channel in the base package. One of the advantages of Hulu for golf fans is the ESPN+ bundle, which gives access to early-round coverage directly from the Hulu app. Of course, as a practical matter, the ESPN+ early round coverage isn’t exclusive to ESPN+, but some fans will want to watch the ESPN+ broadcast team.

If you’re a golf junkie like my Dad, the fact that ESPN+ is now the exclusive home of PGA TOUR LIVE will be an extra bonus.

Can I watch the PGA Tour on YouTube TV?

Yes, YouTube TV carries all the channels you need to watch the PGA Tour live without cable, including the Golf Channel, ESPN, NBC, and CBS in the base package. Because YouTube TV doesn’t carry ESPN+, you can’t watch PGA TOUR LIVE on YouTube TV.

We are big fans of YouTube TV for streaming NFL action, and new for 2023, the platform will be the exclusive home of NFL Sunday Ticket.

Can I watch the PGA Tour on Sling TV?

If you’re an avid golf fan, there are better streaming services than Sling TV.

Why? Although you can watch the early rounds of PGA Tour Events on Golf Channel with Sling TV Blue + Sports Extra, Sling lacks CBS entirely, and only carries NBC in select markets. This means that watching the weekends of PGA Tour Events is tough on Sling TV.

Another problem with Sling TV for watching golf: Sling Orange + Sports Extra, which gets sports fans the ESPN live-stream, doesn’t carry Golf Channel.

This means you have to upgrade to Sling Orange & Blue + Sports Extra package (which is pricey) to get the combination of ESPN, Golf Channel, and NBC (depending on market). So, even Sling’s most expensive package doesn’t get you access to the full lineup of PGA Tour events.

Can I watch the PGA Tour on DIRECTV STREAM?

Yes, you can watch the PGA Tour with DIRECTV STREAM, however, an upgrade to the “Choice” plan is required to access Golf Channel, as well as the DTV STREAM library of regional sports networks.

Except for PGA TOUR LIVE, which can only be live-streamed on Hulu + Live TV or ESPN+, DIRECTV STREAM offers full coverage of PGA programming, plus unlimited DVR.

Go with DIRECTV STREAM as your platform to watch golf if you also want to follow your local NBA, MLB, and NHL team, and you live in a market where DIRECTV STREAM still has the exclusive rights.

For example, if you want to watch the Yankees or Dodgers, and also stream golf, DIRECTV STREAM is the best choice since the app is still the only option for watching Spectrum Sportsnet LA and YES Network.

PGA Tour Live-Stream FAQ

Which PGA Tour Events stream on Peacock?

Peacock is the streaming wing of the parent company, NBC Universal. When NBC has TV rights to a PGA Event, as they do about 8 times per season, the early rounds, and some of the final rounds will also stream on Peacock. In addition, even when CBS has the rights to an event, the early rounds will also sometimes simulcast on Peacock, as is the case with the Genesis Invitational (formerly the Los Angeles Open). It’s also important to point out that Peacock is never the exclusive home of a PGA Event. Instead, the app shares coverage with Golf Channel, ESPN+, or NBC.

Peacock is primarily an early round platform, and doesn’t offer full golf coverage for fans. Peacock maintains an up to date list of its PGA programming, here.

Can I watch the PGA Tour live for free?

Yes, but only for a limited time. You can watch PGA Tour Events live for free with a free trial for up to two weeks. Currently, YouTube TV offers the longest free trial of any live TV streaming service and features every channel you need to watch PGA Tour Events, including the Golf Channel.

If you are already paying for the Golf Channel, either with cable or through a live TV streaming service, you can access early-round coverage as well as fun golf programming on the Golf Channel app for no extra charge. Just be sure you have your username and PW for your current TV account handy to login.

How can I live-stream the Majors?

The four major golf tournaments include the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and the British Open.

All are steeped in tradition and attract the world’s best players. And as they gather, fans are excited to follow the action from the first tee to the final putt.

The Masters tees off the major tournaments from April 6-9. The first two rounds will be on ESPN and the final rounds on CBS.

The PGA Championship is taking place at Oak Hills Country Club in Rochester, NY from May 15-21. Like the Masters, you can catch the first rounds on Thursday and Friday on ESPN, and the final rounds on Saturday and Sunday on CBS.

The Los Angeles Country Club brings the U.S. Open to L.A. from June 15-18 for the first time and NBC has broadcast rights. You catch all rounds on USA Network and NBC, and early morning coverage on Peacock.

Like the U.S. Open, NBC has the rights to the British Open, happening July 20-23 at the Royal Liverpool. NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, and The Golf Channel will broadcast the opening rounds with the network taking over and broadcasting the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday on TV.
